Working Rights for students in Australia

While studying in Australia, a student has the advantage of working part-time in order to gain work experience as well as manage their own living expenses. A student is permitted to work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight when his/her course is in session, and unlimited hours during holidays. The recent changes in the government policies in Australia have made it possible for International students to gain Post Study Work visa in Australia for upto 4 years depending on their educational qualifications gained. This gives the students a fair chance to recover the money spent on education as well as gain international work experience.

From 1 July 2014, the national minimum wage in Australia increase by 3%. The new national minimum wage will now be AUD 640.90 per week or AUD 16.87 per hour.
